WSI · Badgerys Creek · Nancy-Bird Walton
Western Sydney International opens to passengers on 25 October 2026. From every one of the 65 suburbs we serve it is the near airport — closer than Mascot, on an untolled road, and sixty dollars cheaper.
Why it matters here
For thirty years everyone on this side of the Blue Mountains drove all the way through the city to Mascot. Western Sydney International changed that in a single afternoon. Coming down off the range on the Great Western Highway, the turn for Badgerys Creek comes before the Sydney motorways — so WSI is reached without ever entering the tolled network or the tunnels. From every suburb we serve it is between 20 and 37 km closer than Sydney Airport.
The practical differences are worth knowing before you choose a flight. The drive to WSI uses the highway and The Northern Road rather than the M4 and the city crossing, which means no tolls and no tunnel. The terminal is a single building with pre-booked pickup directly opposite arrivals, so the walk from the carousel to the car is a fraction of what P7 at Mascot's T1 demands. And the airport runs without a curfew, which is why some of the cheapest fares out of Sydney now depart at hours Mascot cannot offer.
Every WSI fare is published and it is sixty dollars under the Sydney Airport fare from the same suburb, because it is the shorter, untolled drive. From Leura it is $189; from Katoomba $209; from Lithgow $339; from the Capertee and Wolgan country to the north, more, but still sixty dollars under the Mascot equivalent every time. Tolls, GST, luggage and child restraints are inside the number, and the fare is paid in advance to lock in your vehicle.
Mascot closes at eleven and reopens at six. WSI does not. That has already put departures and arrivals into the small hours, and it suits us: our drivers are used to pre-dawn pickups from unlit rural driveways and the descent of Victoria Pass in the dark, because that is what an early flight off the mountains has always needed. A 2am departure from Portland is not an unusual request here.

The fleet
Every transfer is a private, late-model vehicle sized to your group — never a shared van and never a stranger in the next seat. These are the four that run the range.
One or two passengers with cases. The default for couples and solo travellers on an early Mascot run.
Three or four with full-size cases. The step up when the sedan boot runs out before the party does.
Five or six travelling together, with room for cruise-sized luggage rather than cabin bags.
Seven to eleven seats. Extended families, wedding parties and work crews in one vehicle, one fare — not split across three cars.
Tell us the group size and what luggage is coming and the right vehicle is sent — prams, golf clubs, skis and wheelchairs travel at no extra cost.
These are our own transfers — the van at the Sydney Airport kerb, a full boot of the group’s suitcases, and customers dropped right at their cruise ship.
LithgowAirport Shuttle
